The variable reference has the following keyword options. You can use any combination of these options
with multiple options separated by a comma:
• Description—Describes the variable.
• Name—Specifies the display name of the variable.
• Value—Specifies the value of the variable.
• Unit—Specifies the unit of the variable.
• Instance Number—Specifies one of several uses of the same keyword variable. For example,
$cvar_somecycle[value, 1] where 1 is the instance number.
The result follows the order of the options specified in the variable reference. For example, a variable has
data such as 1.00 mm. If you specify [unit,value] for the keyword options, the result shows the data as
mm 1.00.
Referencing Variables in Messages
You can include variables in the messages you create with the Custom Message and Log Message
activities. Use the following syntax to reference variables and cycle variables respectively:
$var_<identifier>[options]$
$cvar_<identifier>[options]$
To specify a particular variable, use the variable identifier, not the display name.
